Some might seem a little unrelated to the point, but.... those are legit questions. lol. The most necessary things you need are: 0. Patients, above all. 1. Work space. 2. Tools. Stoffregen Motorsports Posted September 7, 2014 Report Share Posted September 7, 2014 Do your homework and have a plan. I hate to see swaps started and never finished. The net result of that situation is one less cool car (or truck) on the road. If you want to swap to an EFI engine, buy a donor car or truck. You will have all the parts you need to do the swap, you will have parts left over to sell and dissecting the donor will help you understand how to put it all back together. Also, if you have to stop work on a project like this, find a stopping point that will make it easier to understand where you left off. And work in systems. IE- do the mounts and brackets until finished, build the fuel system to completion, build the exhaust to completion, do all the wiring in one shot, etc. Working in systems helps keep you focused and less mistakes will be made. If you do buy a donor truck, you could have the pieces there to do a balljoint and disc brake conversion too! 2 Quote Link to comment
