Screechbruh
Hows it going Ratsun peeps! Im trying to swap my engine to something a little newer. The truck currently has the original engine but i don't really feel like putting a lot of time and money into it. id rather buy something newer with more power. All the people that I've talked to tell me to put a SR20det engine in it. Ive heard it fits right in with the stock mounts. Im just curious and would like to know what the most difficult part is when swapping or the problems ill run into. If any one has done that swap any info would help. just wanna know what its gnna take before jumping into things. Thanks! Quote Link to comment

kelowg
Ka24de is cheaper and parts much more available. Also fit without much hassle. Need one from 240sx, can even use trans from z22-24. sr might b a little hairy with no weight in back. Quote Link to comment
dr.feltersnatch
An sr20 is not a direct bolt in. Read through some build threads and save a LOT of money before you start this project. Quote Link to comment
Screechbruh
I've hear it bolts right in with the original mounts.? Quote Link to comment
wicked_circuits
its close to a bolt up, but needs a little fabrication to fit in the bay. See this thread : http://datsunminitruckin.com/sr20det-into-a-datsun-620_topic1632.html Quote Link to comment
mcordero8
Since you live in Cali I wouldn't recommend doing a swap on that truck. Get a 75 or older. Quote Link to comment
EastBay521
true get a 75 or older so you don't have to worry about smog. or id have a 720. Quote Link to comment
]2eDeYe
Smog will be a pain but it is possible. The easiest route would be a KA24E from a hardbody. You will have to keep all of the emissions equipment. You will want to research the local laws on the emissions rules and required documentation of the swap. Jump through the hoops so to speak, only then would I start researching the actual swap. The SR was never offered in a rwd configuration in the US, so it would not be a legal swap in CA. I believe you could get away with it in an earlier truck, but again check your local emissions and swap laws first. Quote Link to comment
