Sealik
Wish the gasket did work for my block. Wonder how Allens lz's turned out using this gasket.. that's alright I guess the l20b I have needs a gasket. If he used it on a 89mm bore engine, the HG will fail. The question is when My research has shown he doesn't know what he's talking about.,,,lol Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
A little too tight?....all stock app HGs are set back from the cylinder wall The Felpro HG for the 2.4L/89mm is 91ish (crushed) Hopefully 'composite'. TRUE!!! It would maybe work at 89 but being back a mm or two would be best. This reduces the heat load on the folded edge of those fire rings. Try wax paper between the boards and the composite gasket when clamping and drilling. Quote Link to comment
uberkevin
People! Just for 35 bucks.. I'm not to upset or anything I knew not to put all hopes into one persons word. Thought I should give it a try tho to see for myself. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
The L, Z and KA series engines have the same bore spacing. An 89mm Z24 gasket will work on an L20b, Z20 or Z22 bored to 89mm. Just beware of some Z series cheapo gaskets known as 'one size fits all'. Just snip the front off and fit the front off an old L gasket for around the timing chain area. It does not have to seal any water, oil or pressure just fumes and oil spray. RTV it and wipe off the excess. Quote Link to comment
Sealik
Try wax paper between the boards and the composite gasket when clamping and drilling. Just have to use some hard board, GIS plywood, MDF/ranger board etc. Something that is smooth and flat with no surface voids...also make sure the 2 pieces of the jig are clamped/screwed tightly together Quote Link to comment
