Lewis, he's a good guy, known him for about 15 years now. He's been through it with that beetle, poor lad. 


The built L18 ran and drove, developed an oil leak and when investigating that it was noticed the sump wasn't properly cleaned after some cutting and welding that was done and a piece of scotchbrite was left in there. When the final assembly was done at a 'race engine shop' they didn't put much care into it sadly and all that shit worked its way around the bottom end. Game over.

Easy for someone to pick up and finish 😉 engine aside, there's not much to do, a full alignment, nut/bot check, go over the electrics etc to make sure it is all safe. Maybe 50 hours of labour.
