rat82wagon
I picked up a 210 US wagon got her on the road and now I'm working on the suspension, The PO cut the coils and now I'm trying to find what will work and not bottom out... It rides rougher than my F250 atm... I'm going to get; Monroe OE Spectrum - Strut Cartridge Part # 73204 for the front. I'm trying to figure out the back right now, I've read that the 510 and b310 rears are the same? I'm looking at these for my rear shocks... Monroe Max-Air - Shock Part # MA756. I'm just trying to figure out if they will fit? just trying to make it ride better than my truck for my daily atm. thanks for the help Josh Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Shocks won't remove the stiff ride or do much for bottoming out. Other than the springs being cut, do the struts appear stock? Is the ride height lower with these cut springs? Ride stiffness is subjective. Only way to move towards 'softer' is to replace the spring. A cut spring may lower the ride height and risk bottoming out. You could remove the spring and add a rubber spacer beneath it to raise the ride height an inch. This will change nothing but the ride height and reduce bottoming. Or you could replace the spring which will soften the ride and raise the ride height. Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
Bad struts make it wallow & bounce. If they are firm now they are working well. Just put some right springs in it. The Monroe's are firm. What fits are 1979-1982 210 springs. For slightly firmer springs guys get 280ZX rear springs and cut them down a bit. Quote Link to comment
Mikeystoy
Where are you located? I have a pair of B310 wagon strut assemblies with springs. Quote Link to comment
rat82wagon
I get you you'll are saying, I was just thinking by putting shorter struts in it would stop the bottoming out problem. The struts seem to be good nice firm ride and stuff no bounce, or wallow in it. It "rides on rails" but I go over the paint strips and its like I'm hitting a speed bump lol. I'm going to be looking at the junk yard for some 280 stuff and go ahead and do that swap. I don't want to buy new stuff just to turn around and buy new stuff when I do the swap. I'm located in Fl. Thanks for the advice everybody josh Quote Link to comment
dukerollo
It's a wagon? They ride like shit. Mine does anyway. Air shocks from a 79 Chevy c10 will fit the rear. Then you can pump up them bishes to get more ride height if that's what you need. Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
210 wagon has the same struts as 210 sedan & coupe. Same spring rate. Same rear suspension too. And rides pretty smooth with stock parts (much smoother than its predecessor the B210). When I've come across poor riding 210 its because they had been lowered down to the bump stops, or springs replaced with stiff springs, or worn out shocks. One had seized shocks which resulted in very bumpy harsh ride. Quote Link to comment
