datsunaholic Posted August 29, 2008 Report Share Posted August 29, 2008 The confusion in that Nissan built 2 completely different cars labelled as the 510. The original, 1968-73 510 was a Datsun Bluebird, model 510. The second 510 was a Datsun Violet, model A10, 1978-81. But it was only labelled a 510 in the US to try and help sales, since Nissan had started losing market rapidly to Toyota in the mid 70s. It didn't hurt that the 2 "510s" had some very similar styling that made it easier to badge them that way. But in reality they were completely separate model lines, as the Bluebird line wend from the 510 to 610 then straight to 810, whereas the Violet line started with the 710 and then the A10. That 810 looks sharp and I can't believe that 210 is still there. I just got that 77 KC off of craigslist out of nashville this week. I put pics up in projects under 77 620 kc thread.
