jvb5577
Its looking good! What color did you decide to go with? Quote Link to comment
mcordero8
I think I am going to go with a crimson pearl. This is the color that the new Hondas are using. I like this color because it is close to the color that my old truck was, and I am trying to replicate it. Quote Link to comment
mcordero8
I just wanted to post my latest update. When I purchased my truck the guy I bought it off of told me that it had a patch job done to the passenger floor board, so I thought cool that was taken care of, but when I pulled the carpets up I was in for a surprise. the floor board was patched with a couple pieces of sheet metal held on with silicone. This was not cool I decided to cut it out and my friend helped me weld a coupe pieces of stainless steel, so no more rust.20140330_102500_resized by mcordero8, on Flickr 20140330_102526_resized by mcordero8, on Flickr 20140408_190219_resized by mcordero8, on Flickr 20140410_173626_resized by mcordero8, on Flickr 20140411_175159_resized by mcordero8, on Flickr 20140411_175144_resized by mcordero8, on Flickr 2 Quote Link to comment
mcordero8
I decided that I wanted to protect the truck a little more to prevent it from rusting in the future, so I took Jeff's advice and brushed some POR-15 on the floor pans. It is a 4 step process. First you prep the floors. Sand off all the loose rust. 20140502_181041_resized by mcordero8, on FlickrSecond, you use Marine Clean to degrease the metal and clean it off. 20140504_143953_resized by mcordero8, on FlickrThird, you use a product called Prep and Ready to prepare the metal for painting. This chemical primers the metal. 20140504_152723_resized by mcordero8, on FlickrFinally, you brush on the POR-15 and I must say that I am very happy with the results. This comes out with a glass like finish. 20140504_174311_resized by mcordero8, on Flickr 3 Quote Link to comment

mcordero8
I decided to go ahead and paint my engine bay. I went with a product from Eastwood called Underhood Black Matte. It was easy to work with and I think it turned out Okay. Let me know what you think. When I first got my truck this is how the engine bay looked like. 00Q0Q_fVOwwkwbF45_600x450 by mcordero8, on Flickr After a little bit of elbow grease and a lot of degreaser this is how it looked. 20140513_194844_resized by mcordero8, on Flickr Here is how it looks now that it is painted. 20140527_200056_resized by mcordero8, on Flickr 3 Quote Link to comment

mcordero8
Me too, I can't wait to get them put on. Here is some other things I have done to my truck. I took the bed off to paint the back of the cab and front of the bed and when I took it off I decided to use the POR-15 on the frame of the bed and the under part of the bed. How does it look?20140517_062750_resized_1 by on Flickr20140525_110356_resized_1 by on Flickr20140516_190022_resized_1 by on Flickr20140525_110124_resized by on Flickr20140530_172206_resized_1 by on Flickr20140530_172229_resized_1 by on Flickr 1 Quote Link to comment

izzo
Cool. Did you pressure wash it and de-grease it first? Also you will have to work in the paint you do later with what you already did so there isn't a lip (i think..)... but good progress :D Quote Link to comment
jvb5577
Looks really good! I am excited to see this when its all done. :w00t: Keep up the good work. Quote Link to comment
mcordero8
Yes, I had to degrease and pressure wash the shit out of it then I wire brushed the rusty parts and applied the Marine Clean then the prep and ready and finally the POR-15. Before the truck gets painted the whole truck will get sealed. Quote Link to comment
