If you mean strictly 280z stock parts then a good example would be the later EI dizzy put into an early points car. The '77 and up 5 speed option is another.

 

The point is that there are lots of stock Datsun/Nissan parts that are an improvement on other years of cars. Only sensible to take advantage of them.

 

 

 

You mentioned stock parts.

 

 

As often happens one thing leads to another. Info changes hands, it's all good. 

Im actually looking in to that dizzy swap, thanks for the info.

Cut 1 coil off the msa lowering springs....cant tell the difference in height but im pretty sure the suspension will settle some

The car handles amazing now.No more clanking no more diff banging :D
the trans bushings were left lone till the day i need to replace the clutch or remove the engine :D all in all it was not as difficult as i thought it would be. definitely worth the time.

I thought all 280Z came with EI, with 75-77 being low energy and 78 high energy.

 

From '74 on were breakerless transistor ignitions known as the remote igniter (did not know this, thought only California had 'em)

 

I suspect these were only breakerless and not high output like the later '78 units. The coil is a much different unit on the '78 and matches the coil on the next gen 280zx ('79) that DID have the higher output.
