gryffinwings
I've been doing some research and I'm looking at one day doing a KA24DE swap into my 1984 720 swap. Things I know I will need. Questions: 1. Is it true that a truck version of the KA24DE is bolt in into the 720? 2. Can I use the 240SX intake manifold and be smog legal? 3. Do I have to use the truck ECU to be smog legal. 4. I need a shopping list of what I need to make this work? Sorry to add this, how much easier would it be to install the truck variant KA24E? Quote Link to comment

At least for items 2 and 3, they will most probably provide an answer to item 3 unless the clerk is in PMS. Quote Link to comment
hang_510
your truck will now need to meet the requirements of the engine from the donor vehicle. DMV has all the nasty details and hoops youll need to clear 1 Quote Link to comment

Questions: 1. Is it true that a truck version of the KA24DE is bolt in into the 720? It (2wd KA24DE) will bolt up to the 720s transmission. Motor mounts will need some work. Exhaust down pipe, throttle cable, high pressure fuel pump, electrical wiring for EFI... 2. Can I use the 240SX intake manifold and be smog legal? If you use the 240zx intake, sensors, wiring and ecu and the ref does not notice the block is wrong then yes. Otherwise, no, this is not a stock combination. 3. Do I have to use the truck ECU to be smog legal. You do if running the complete DE from a Hardbody. 4. I need a shopping list of what I need to make this work? Use the search function for similar builds to see all that is needed. Sorry to add this, how much easier would it be to install the truck variant KA24E? About equal. Quote Link to comment
