dat77sun
ok so im 4.3 swapping my 82 720, the original plan was to run the s10 5spd and transfercase as a married unit, but now looking at it i dont know if i can because of the crossmember where the torsion bars go to. a thought roaming through my mind is finding a s10 2wd 5spd trans and getting a custom midshaft made and running the stock nissan transfercase. what are your guys thoughts? think it would hold up? flatcat19
1. Install coilovers. 2. Remove torsion bars. 3. ? 4. Profit. Quote Link to comment
Boxcar
Well the Nissan T-case is a pretty stout little unit. I think you'd be fine. 1 Quote Link to comment
DaveZilla
That's good to know... I was curious about just how strong these things were as well. Quote Link to comment
flatcat19
How was it mounted in the donor truck? How would you support the divorced transfer case? Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
It's an '82 720 4x4. It will have a divorced T-100 transfer case in it. The motor will likely be a GM 4.3. He's wondering weather to run an S 10 5 speed with built in transfer case OR an S 10 2wd 5 speed and run the stock T-100 Using the stock T-100 will only need the primary driveshaft altered but it is designed for only a small 4 cylinder motor. The S 10 5 speed with integral trans case will be stronger but way more work with driveshafts, cross members and torsion bars in the way. Quote Link to comment
dat77sun
datzen mike explained it perfectly, thinking im going to run the stock transfercase Quote Link to comment
