floyd17
What do I need to do to install these? And would these decrease my mileage and/or increase my engine wear significantly? Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
For the Weber all you need is the kit from Redline Weber. It has everything needed. Say goodbye to your fuel economy. If you currently don't rev your engine over 5000 rpm the Weber will not increase your HP. Quote Link to comment
floyd17
Are you saying it increases HP at higher rpm..? Quote Link to comment

ggzilla
Yes, that's what I'm saying. Rev your engine to make more power. Most A-series make Max HP at 6000 rpm in stock form, although mpg engines make Max HP at 5600. Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
And the stock carb is big enough for max airflow at 5000 rpm. The Weber 32/36 is big enough for 7000 rpm use. Quote Link to comment
floyd17
Okay. That's helpful. Ball park of how much hp is added at 6000 rpm? Quote Link to comment

ggzilla
Depends on which engine you have. To the hi-po A14 a Weber 32/36 will add maybe 5 HP at 6000 rpm. To the mpg A14 it might add 2 HP. Definitely enough to feel the difference. There are two ways to make big HP - higher rpm or forced induction. 1 Quote Link to comment
izzo
Why not find a carb of a 1200 and use that. They seem to be tits on these motors. mauy have to swap your idle jets, but mine was plenty peppy with one of those. Got 32-35 mpg too and I never kept my foot out of it. 6k shifts all day 1 Quote Link to comment

ggzilla
Because the Weber 32/36 makes more power than the A12's 26/30. The A14 carb is larger too (larger venturis than A12) and can be rejetted for performance. Nissan sells the jets. Every A12 will rev to 6400. 1 Quote Link to comment

ggzilla
That's a topic all of itself. I recommend he read the a-series turbo article and if he still has questions create a new topic for his turbo questions. Quote Link to comment
floyd17
.... now, what about the turbo? Blow or draw through??? Not sure. Tell me, which is the better option? Pros and cons? I would think a draw through would be less wear.. Quote Link to comment
