Siqx20
Idk how many guys around here have done a sas swap In their 720's. But I'm looking into swapping in yoda axles in the future. The only thing I'm seeing as a issue here is Toyota axles have the differential on the passenger side. Which is fine since stock 720 t-cases goes right down the middle. What I'm conceded about it smashing the differential Into the oil pan when I'm stuffing tires on the trails. Anybody have some insight? Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Yeah that's going to happen. If you go SAS just put a 2wd oil pan on. BTW: that's a 720 frame. Quote Link to comment
Siqx20
Oh cool! I was considering that as a solution. Thanks mike!! Quote Link to comment
Farmer Joe
all questions answered here... http://community.ratsun.net/topic/37709-82-720-kc-build-thread/page-11 even got to the good part for ya. Quote Link to comment
DaveZilla
Very cool... I'd love to convert a 620 to 4wd like that or put a 620 body on a 4x4 720 frame  Quote Link to comment
]2eDeYe
Passenger side diff is not an issue as far as I can tell. :D 1 Quote Link to comment
Siqx20
The 720 4x4 pans are weird snapped and go way passenger. But you got tons of room Quote Link to comment
]2eDeYe
You should be able to swap in a 2wd pan once the IFS crap is out of the way. Quote Link to comment
Siqx20
Yeah I think that's the plan. :) Quote Link to comment
OneFreakyMF
Yeah, that's what I did as well. Make sure you grab the 2wd's pick up tube as well.... Quote Link to comment
Meltor
How much does it cost to do a SAS? I am very interested in getting rid of my IFS but alas i have never done this and dont even know where to start Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Well you would need a suitable front axle. I used an early '80 Toyota. The rest was fabricating and welding it in. Quote Link to comment
]2eDeYe
Yep, cost is relative. Do you have the parts already? Can you fabricate the mounts and any other parts that need to be made? To give you an idea. I already had an axle and built my own mounts, but the locker and gears was about $1500. Quote Link to comment
godzirra
lift it so high you don't have to worry about the oil pan.. mine would be at least a good 4-6" at all times from the oil pan if it were driver-side drop (mine is passenger). Meltor, the only limitation on cost is the depth of your pockets. Quote Link to comment
