dp320
Anyone noticed this before? Page 158 of my Service Manual. The wiring diagram on the previous page shows positive ground. The little sketch on this page also shows negative ground. ETA: I'm assuming the negative ground stuff is a mistake. Which bolt are people attaching their positive ground to? Quote Link to comment
wayno
My guess would be that the positive connects to the car body or frame if positive ground, but who knows, maybe it's some weird setup. Quote Link to comment
mklotz70
It was originally positive ground. I converted to neg ground, but I connected the ground cable back to the same spot as it was when I got it. You can see it connected to the left side of the head. If you hook yours up with neg ground, the radio will be a direct short to ground if you have one, so disconnect the antenna and radio before you try it. 1 Quote Link to comment
SS320
I just assumed they all came out with a positive earth. Maybe wrong on that. Some find it better to change over. Mine is changed over to negative earth, or ground as you say. Every time I look at my service manual I spot many typo's! I don't want to embarrass myself by posting a pic after looking at that shithot red engine/bay pic above from MKL70!!!!!!!! Quote Link to comment
mklotz70
I had to change mine over in order to use the alternator and electronic dizzy. LOL....it did look pretty nice right after I finished it. After a couple of years of driving it and not cleaning it....not so nice. Wayno has owned that truck for about 3 years now I think. Now I need to get the fuel gauge working, I have a fresh sealed tank if needed, but first I need to swap out the gauge cluster and see if that does it. I did install a new heater box and piped it, I now have heat and defrosters. Quote Link to comment
