jammin
Hello, My tie rod ends were shot on my 521, with the passenger side being the worst, so I ordered it from Rock Auto and no issues. I have since gone on to the driver side, and I have ordered 2 from autozone, one from O'Reily's and now just got one from Rock Auto and none of them fit! It's like they are all cast just a hair too small. I can thread onto rod one turn, but nothing after! Any thoughts? Thanks, Ben Quote Link to comment
thisismatt
Is it possible that the old ends and tie rod had been switched out for a metric set and you're trying to thread an SAE end on a metric threaded tie rod (or vice versa)? Quote Link to comment
wayno
Are you talking about the tierod ends on the center link, or are you talking about the tierods that go from the pitman arm to the wheels? Quote Link to comment
jammin
To answer the above questions: I don't know about the metric / SAE question. By the condition of the tie rod ends, I believe all parts were original. Both parts were so frozen that I had to use a blowtorch to get them off. I just find it strange that the passenger side end (moog) went right on but the driver side won't (also moog) they have the same part# just a L and H designating each side. Also, the part in question is the centerlink rod with the tie rod ends on each end. Quote Link to comment
mrbigtanker
You did flop them around to make sure right on right and left on left.Just asking cause it does happen.also at wire brush the threads and check inside the tie rod ends and the drag link for stripping. Quote Link to comment
wayno
I would say if it won't thread on, that it is a miss-labeled part. :crying: Quote Link to comment
