ceers69
Hey Ratsun folks. I'm building a '69 521. It's gonna be alot of work, but I'm excited. Always done Chevy's but Datsun was the first truck I ever Loved. Wanna do some different things to it. If I go with an SR or a KA, should I cut the mounts off the original donor car or make my own? Also wondering if its possible to either shorten the steering column or swap it. So many questions. Lets start here. 1 Quote Link to comment

Stoffregen Motorsports
Pretty sure the column is bolted to the steering box, so shortening it would be a pain. You could mount a 720 box and modify a 720 shaft/column to fit. Why do you want to shorten it? Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
The 520/521 and 620 column and box are integral. That means one piece and can't be separated. With a lot of work it could be cut apart and shortened and welded together but you're talking a solid bar inside an outer casing or pipe covering Quote Link to comment
Stoffregen Motorsports
You should skip to the part in my 320 build thread that discusses the steering column. http://community.ratsun.net/topic/34698-320-balljoint-conversion/ Quote Link to comment
