SupDoc
On 510s, anybody know if the inner fenders on '68s are the same as '72s? Quote Link to comment
Ratwagon1600
Can you convert your question to Australian English please so this poor chap can understand :) If you are referring to the front end of the car, and more specifically the engine bay and the area where the strut bolts to (inner fender ?) the four Doors were all the same with only subtle differences in what you call side marker lights?, badges and on the Deluxe, and GL models a chrome strip along the length of the guard (fender). I'm 99.99999% sure the two doors are the same. Quote Link to comment
sssr20det510
should be the same although I have seen where fenders fit fine on one car and not so much on another. Ive seen 68-69 fenders on 70-73 and vise versa Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
My info shows the same part number sedan and goons. Quote Link to comment
SupDoc
Yeah mate, I'm talking about the sheet metal that creates the inside of the engine bay, where the struts bolt up. I'm looking to replace some damaged sheet metal from the battery tray to where the core support attaches. The car was in an accident that crunched the outside fender, as well as the inside of the engine bay. Quote Link to comment
SupDoc
My info shows the same part number sedan and goons. Thanks, that's a good sign. The only donor car I've found is a 68, but mine is a 72. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
It should be the same. As to some fenders not bolting up very well. First of all there are lots of re manufactured fenders out there from Taiwan. Perhaps different thickness of metal used and it doesn't form properly? Then there's 40 years of being bumped by previous owners. I would not doubt that some are hard to fit. Quote Link to comment
sssr20det510
Really is the 68 messed up? Quote Link to comment
SupDoc
Someone on the Bay Area Datsun Facebook group, posted that some guy is parting out one in Livermore. Supposedly, this is his craigslist ad: http://sacramento.craigslist.org/pts/3748428717.html There are more pictures of it on the FB page that show it smashed up pretty bad on the front left side.
