Dattokai
It came with inside the trunk of my 510 when I first got it. My friend said it's a Subaru LSD, but I want to know whether he is right or wrong. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Subaru and the 510 H-160 diffs are made by the same company and are to all intents and purposes... the same. The Subaru diffs usually have a foil label on the back but this could have fallen off. You can open it up at the back and see if LSD or you can hold one axle and turn the drive shaft yoke. If the other axle turns and yours does not it isn't an LSD. If both axles turn together in the same direction it's an LSD. Quote Link to comment
Ratwagon1600
As usual, Mikes pretty well bang on the money here. There's not much to tell them apart from external, apart from the sticker. I'm sure I have one of these beasties buried away somewhere in one of my treasure piles. If I can find it I'll post pics. Oh, and as Mike suggested, simplest way to tell is to take the back cover off. Quote Link to comment
510T
That is definitely an R160. On an R180 the mustache bar stud area is connected on the cover. What I find odd is the plate bolted to the pinion end of the diff. I just google imaged R160 diff and none I could find looked like that. Maybe that's why it was in the trunk? If it does indeed have an LSD it's not too hard to swap that part into your current diff. All the Datto / Subi diffs I have seen look more like this: Quote Link to comment
