720 center console differences?

Did any of the 720s with the shorter length 5-speed come with a shifter console?  I just bought a console with gauges for my 85 base model with bench seat, and it the shifter is way too far forward to fit in the console opening.

 

Is there such a thing as a console for the short transmissions or do I need to convert to the longer transmission/driveshaft setup?

 

If there is a shorter console, anyone have pics of it?

Consoles are different not sure exactly what they are. I know manual and auto are different, I think there might be 2 different length trannies or a difference with the 4x4?

There sure was. Long transmissions have a console with a spare change holder just forward of the shifter. Short tranny consoles do not.

Aha, so that would explain why the inner shift boot I was so excited to find in primo condition at the yard last week won't fit in the plate.  You have a round hole in the one in your post-conversion pic, and mine is oval for some reason... thanks, you saved me a trip back to the yard to get a plate that wouldn't work!
