cg78
82 to late 80's trucks not sure exactly when they switched to the ka. They also used them in cars too. I would say any time after 82. Quote Link to comment
datsunaholic
'81-89 trucks, '80-83 200SX, '86 Pathfinder, and 89-90 Axxess van. '86-older used the 71B transmission, '86.5 and later used the 71C (the same transmission used with the KA), assuming 2WD, though the 4WD transmission front case is the same. The Z20 also came in a 80-81 510 but didn't use the 71-series transmission. I'm kind of wondering why folks think they need to switch bellhousings... just use the whole transmission. The ONLY time a swap is needed is if you are trying to put an (old) L-series 71B transmission on a KA, as the NAPS-Z 71B bolts right on. The NAPS-Z 71C and the KA 71C are identical. There is no way to use your original '73 transmission with a KA, unless it's an automatic. Quote Link to comment

nismopu
I would use the 240sx tranny, it puts the shifter in a better spot and gives you an excuse to put buckets in. peace. Quote Link to comment

620Soldier
Very useful. I'm not sold on moving shifter position yet. I'm looking for least amount of fab work in the first place. I might do the bell housing swap myself. Just gotta look up how the old dogleg would fair with the KA. Quote Link to comment
620Soldier
Found it. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Hope you 'found' that a Z, L or KA front won't fit the dogleg. Quote Link to comment
620Soldier
That was meant for a different thread. I'm selling the dogleg and looking for napz 5 speed. From what I've gathered it will fit the KA without having to shorten the drive line. Just some slotting of the trans bracket. Quote Link to comment
