jodychin
I'm looking at a 1984 Nissan Sprint motorhome, which I now understand has a Datsun engine. I want to price out a conversion from 2wd to 4wd, just out of curiosity. And no, I most definitely won't be doing the work myself. Thanks. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
All Datsuns and Nissans had Nissan engines. The '84 would have been a 2wd 720 either converted to a motor home or was bought as a Cab/Chassis model and had a motor home/camper put on the back by companies that do this conversion. You would be further ahead buying a similar year 720 4X4 and swapping the motor home onto it. Quote Link to comment
HRH
I would suggest one better. Transfer the motorhome to a D21 (Hardbody) frame and 4wd system. Much, much better system, easy to find parts for. Use 90+ as the front hub units in some 90 and below have those stupid little spindle bearings in the front hub. My '93 does not, however, and thus eliminates one more breakage prone part. Plus, it seems to be easy to find dead motor 4x4 D21s around, whereas even 720s that aren't rusted out to beat hell are becoming harder to find. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Even better. Quote Link to comment
hitch
Also, it probably came with a dually rear axle, so plan on that conversion / swap in your budget. Quote Link to comment
