Thanks. I think I need too take it back to the guy who wired it, cuz I had a 78 620 coil in it, and it melted. :crying: it starrted to squirt oil out.

A 78 coil should not melt as it can take the full 12-14 volts.

 

Points ignition cant take that

a point coil cant take that unless there a ballast reisiter

ya, thats what ggzilla recommended i get for my EI dizzy. But I just figured it was bad out of the box, and got it replaced, but I also think my cap and rotor is bad so i just ordered those. and i'm waiting for those to test it.

Test it with the cap & rotor you have already. If it works good, keep the new cap & rotor for spares.

 

Cap & rotor can be washed & clean. Unless it is burnt carbon tracks, they do not need to be periodically replaced. Genuine Nissan/Hitachi caps go for decades, cheap american-made ones don't last very long.

and you said just clean it with dishsoap n let it dry over night right? I'll try that tonight.

 

Also the new coil isn't throwing  a strong spark, i was assuming it was the coil but its new, n now i think its the cap and rotor.

Cap & rotor don't throw a spark. Don't assume anything, test it instead.

So finally got it started but now its blowing white smoke from the exhast. But thank you everyone for ur help n patients, couldnt have done it without ur help. :)

If the intake manifold was removed and reinstalled it could be just loose intake exahust bolt sucking in water thru the head holes(passages)

Maybe it's the cold weather....if the car is warmed up and still smokes and smokes a lot of white smoke at the stop light, then it's beyond the coil.

No didnt take the intake off. Jus the dizzy cap, and oil cap. Great technique on looking inside the oil cap to see if the lobe is at the 9 o'clock. I saw u suggested it in another thread, saved me a valve cover gasket

if the valve cover gasket is glued on right to the valve cover then the issue about replacing the gasket should not be an issue.  Just this month I must off took off the valve cover like 5 times and my gasket is till good because it's glued to the cover.

of course you are qualified, you bought it..now how was installment, how's the quality, does your truck idle better/smoother..let us know.  Because this sounds like a good buy and even thought about it at one time...
