620 steering center-link question

Always wondered for myself. I've thought about pulling mine in the Autozone parking lot and taking them in with my digital caliper. I'm sure you could probably find some tie rod ends that share the same thread pitch as the center link, but the concern would probably be the tapered rod that the nut goes on.

Sometimes on rock auto you must go up or down a year to get what you want, Im not sure why they list different parts for the same vehicles (Idler arm for a 620 for example).  I guess they figure of a 78 has disc brakes instead of drums its totally different all together.  We datsun guys know better B)

I'd rather not be cheap and just buy the RA Moog assembly, a lot better than mix and matching and trying to figure out what works, plus you get a shiny ass center bar too.... I just replaced all my steering components last week.
