Farmer Joe
does anyone know if the ends on the center link are just regular tie rod ends? has anyone ever replaced those with just basic tie rod ends? kinda curious to see if they can be replaced on their own.. i dont need a new bar altogether. thanks for the help! metalmonkey47
Always wondered for myself. I've thought about pulling mine in the Autozone parking lot and taking them in with my digital caliper. I'm sure you could probably find some tie rod ends that share the same thread pitch as the center link, but the concern would probably be the tapered rod that the nut goes on. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
L&R hand threads. Quote Link to comment
Farmer Joe
oh man... this just sound like a mess waiting to happen.. i guess if you could find the right left and right hand rod end it would work. rock auto offers the whole assembly for $33. doesnt sound like a bad deal... metalmonkey47
You're going to end up spending probably the same or very close if anyone was to find tie rod ends. I've got plenty of l&r hand threaded tie rods at work, just no time to measure. Quote Link to comment
yello620
Rockauto has the tie rods individually for the centerlink. They have them in Moog, Raybestos and AC Delco. Here are the Moog part numbers .ES2467R & ES2468L Quote Link to comment
h190
Sometimes on rock auto you must go up or down a year to get what you want, Im not sure why they list different parts for the same vehicles (Idler arm for a 620 for example). I guess they figure of a 78 has disc brakes instead of drums its totally different all together. We datsun guys know better B) Quote Link to comment
Radim
I'd rather not be cheap and just buy the RA Moog assembly, a lot better than mix and matching and trying to figure out what works, plus you get a shiny ass center bar too.... I just replaced all my steering components last week. Quote Link to comment
h190
I bought the moog unit and It worked great. Quote Link to comment
