Tim Keith
I am replacing the rear wheel bearings on a '74 620. How are the bearings removed? Is this a project for a shop with special tools? I have a hydraulic press. Tim Quote Link to comment
flatcat19
What's wrong with the bearings? It can be done at home. I work at a Nissan dealer, so I get to cheat. But a punch and hammer will remove the locknuts for ya. Take pics. Document it for others. Quote Link to comment
jesusno2
pull axles out of housing, remove the lock ring and press the backing plate off the axle shaft. Quote Link to comment
RedBanner
And dont forget to put the backing plate back on BEFORE you press on the new bearing. Quote Link to comment
flatcat19
Throw the backing plate in the scrap pile and add some disc brake brackets while you're that far into the job. Quote Link to comment
banzai510(hainz)
key is put the correct seal on befor you put the bearing back on. I really dont see them wearing out. Most poepl just change the out seal on the axle if you have leak issues. Quote Link to comment
