My old Ford Ranger work truck has been hard to get to pass. I have to Make sure the oil is changed, new plugs. Then I go early in the morning when it is cool, don't shut off the engine and keep it running if you have to wait in line. This last time I flunked and had to go home and advance the timing then go back. They don't run them on that dyno drum thing any more. Didn't even pop the hood, just hooked up a tail pipe sniffer and something to register the rpm. The guy ran it at two different RPMs and I passed. I wasn't really paying attention to how the test was run.

Good luck.

They are working on making it state wide testing, but they have been working on that since at least 1995. I put a SBC in my 76 landcruiser in 94, under the old rules, i had good tags through 96. And the 20 year rule was still used. They changed that in 1995, it is now 1975 and newer and is supposed to stay that way. So i am screwed when they go state wide.
