travis06lly
Got my new titan wheels on finally and i pretty much fell in love with it again lol, but i have a question i was reading on here that i had to use 1/4 inch spacers in the front to make them work so i put them on there but now the stud only goes about half way through the lug nut? Surly Im not the only one this has happen to, what are yall guys doing to fix this putting longer studs if so whats the size on them or Wat r they off of? Quote Link to comment
travis06lly
Anyone? Quote Link to comment
flatcat19
Pound a stud out-take it to parts house-find a stud whose krurling diameter matches-pay the man. Do your 1/4" spacers fit over the hub on your truck? Quote Link to comment
Dawa
i just ran into this problem as well (trying to swap in some aftermarket wheels) and this is the info i wrote down in regards to the 'stock' bolt dimensions: m12-1.25, knurl 12.83, length 41.5mm, shoulder 14mm for me i need about 10-15 more mm's, so maybe a total length of 50-55mm studs. also, what lug nuts are you using? im using open ended acorns.... those would help in case the studs you get are too long, that way the nut doesnt bottom out on the stud before it can meet the wheel's surface. travis06lly
Thats Wat i kinda did today but the people at oriellys r a bunch of dumb shits so tomorrow ill prolly go to car quest they usually take care of me pretty good but Im just using the stock acorn lug nuts right now they r perfect for the rear but with the spaced in the front there just to short Quote Link to comment
Dawa
maybe a tire store might have longer studs? i would try to find a bolt store, theyll have more selection. also, my stock open end acorns were too thick (21mm OD) i went to discount tire and bought 24 open end bulge acorns (19mm od) for rougly a dollar a piece. travis06lly
Yea i might just call discount tomorrow and see if they have any good info, what kind of wheels you putting on any pics? Quote Link to comment

flatcat19
Those are rad. They're a bit wide. Send 'em this way. We'll try them on a 521. :w00t: Quote Link to comment
Dawa
yeah id rather have a set of wheels that fits under the fenders for once, theres just not enough positive offset (never thought id say that!) i feel like my volks stick out more though, you can have em, theyre for sale Quote Link to comment
travis06lly
Those are pretty mean bro they would look sick once u get some tires on and slam it lol i started on my notch last night, tired of no suspension in the back Haha Quote Link to comment
metalmonkey47
When you get the studs, note the part number on the bag for us :P Discount tire or Butler Tire (If you have one local) would be a good place to check. Beware, Butler will try to sell you a set of hideous rims to go on it and likely has an ugly yellow Lambo out front. 1 Quote Link to comment
travis06lly
Yea i called discount yesterday and they were pretty much no help the guy said they didnt do anything with wheels studs, he said the best plac would just to call the parts store. Damn i didnt realize putting these wheels on would be such a pain n the dick Quote Link to comment
flatcat19
Go to a tire store that actually does real work. Not JUST tires. Fuck Discount/America's Tire Company. Fuckin tire jockeys. Derpish County. Quote Link to comment

travis06lly
Yeah that thread does look pretty helpful but are the 510 studs the same size as are 620s? Im going to go by the parts store today and look at a few of those Quote Link to comment

Jdm720
I know, this is somewhat off-topic.... But, what are your tire dimensions...? I have some titans I wanna throw on my 720 soon, two of them bored out for the front... But I haven't bought any tires yet, and yours seem just about right. They are 18x8, right..? Dawa
alright so i just removed a stud from the front and the rear and ill confirm that theyre the same size, in case anyone was curious/wondering at all. MY bolt dimensions: overall length: 44mm head: 5mm underhead length: 38mm knurl length: 7mm total shoulder length: 14mm total threaded portion length: 22mm hub thickness: -front approx 6.5mm -rear approx 8mm (seems the rear hub is thicker than the front? according to my measurements..) drum thickness: approx 6.5mm length of bolt from hub to bolt end: approx 29mm front & rear length of bolt from drum to bolt end: approx 20-23mm.... im having a problem understanding my notes on this so by using all that, AND trying to stay as close to stock knurl thread diameter of 12.83 (or larger but NOT smaller) i dont think there is a 'stock' dorman type bolt we can use http://www.dormanproducts.com/catalog/hardware2006/161-166_Sec10_Part6.pdf EVEN if you were to consider using a 1.5 instead of 1.25 pitch. dorman PN 610-409 was close but the shoulder would be TOO long (29mm, vs 14mm) your lugnuts would reach the end of the threaded portion before they could even start to apply torque to the wheels. so its lookin like the ARPs are the best bet. considering price & size i think the 100-7708 are best dimensions: 12mm x 1.50 knurl diameter: .509in (12.92mm) knurl length: .315in (8mm) underhead length: 2.5in (63.5mm) price is around $15 each, plus shipping. thats most likely the route im going to go. Dawa
actually, by doing a general wheel stud search for an m12 bolt, with a knurl diameter of .505" (12.83mm) i stumbled across 2 options. 1.5" long (stock) and 2.5" long. http://www.summitrac...parts/MSR-8255/ $22 for a set of 10! they are 1.5 pitch instead of 1.25 but i think in the end theyll be less expensive than the ARPs! ^, knurl length is 3/8in (9.52mm) ill probably get them on ebay: http://www.ebay.com/...92&vxp=mtr#shId Quote Link to comment

Tristin
So if that list of applicable cars is correct and the 510 is the same as 620s, then you can pick up extended wheels studs from Futo Fab. I want to say they are 60mm long but you'd have to check. Quote Link to comment
Dawa
So if that list of applicable cars is correct and the 510 is the same as 620s, then you can pick up extended wheels studs from Futo Fab. I want to say they are 60mm long but you'd have to check. i have to say that the list is somewhat misleading. it states models and years, but doesnt specify front or back. 240sx' for example: s13s i think have the same (12.83 knurl) wheels studs all around, where the s14 has the 12.83 knurl diameter in the rear but a larger one up front. i just checked out futo fab's z/510 studs: m12x1.25 60mm (2.36") knurl dia. 12.75mm and states that they can be used in place of 12.90mm knurl studs. $3 a piece i wish i could find something concrete from datsun that states exact/original dimensions. because for now im just assuming dorman specs are correct. and idk how critical that diameter has to be, as in if using something thats .08 smaller really makes a difference... Tristin
You could always buy one and see... It's only a few dollars. Quote Link to comment
Dawa
i dont wanna be the tester :( im sure theyll all fit fine, i think the problem comes further on down the line when vibration/wear sets in and either the hub's hole wears out (enlarges) or more likely in this case the knurl wears out and is able to work itself out of the hub here's another thread, from ozdat. looks like quite a few guys are running studs from 'nice products.' which are application specific. they make both regular and long studs. their long studs (pn NS4570) are m12x1.25 knurl dia 12.9mm shoulder length 14mm length 73mm im not suggesting to buy studs from australia, im using them as another reference for knurl diameter.
