U joint replacement, cap issue

I have read through a few threads.

I am having an issue with the last of the 4 caps.

I got the new ujoint on the driveshaft itself, both caps on and clips in place.

Started the yoke for the differential, used a c-clamp to compress the caps in. One sunk in immediately, got the clip on for that,3rd cap. Now the 4th cap, I cannot get to move anymore. It only needs to go in another 1.5mm or so (what ever the width of the clip is). I cannot figure out why the cap will not go any further in. I bent a very strong c-clamp. I have tried a big hammer. I am going to take it into work tomorrow, and use the bench vise, and anything else to try and get it together.
