Just buy an early 720 pick up with a Z22 motor in it.

Pull motor/trans.

Sell or scrap the rest of the truck to make a return.

There is a 720 in Clackamas on CL right now that won't pass DEQ.

Perfect candidate. You can probably swing it for next to nothing.

^^^ good idea. z22 blocks are not super common, and probably less common just sitting, already pulled in someones garage.

If you find a $200 510 it will cost you about $4,800 to get it worth $2,600. Save your money and buy the most complete running 510 you can afford.... it's way cheaper in the long run.

But 1981-1983 is the only years with Z22 I think.
