screamer510
Could you use a Heli-coil? That knob looks like it would be nice. Good work. Dan Quote Link to comment

the nice machine
I love acrylic. I just wish I had a better way to cut it without chipping the shit out of the edges. Drop knowledge? a fine tooth band saw works super awesome. if you want big straight lines, i've always used a table saw with a fine cut blade. the more teeth the better. a good tile saw would work too. never use a jigsaw. you can flame polish your cuts with a mapp gas torch, but i wouldn't reccomend it. a better way is to wetsand it (400grit at least) and then polish it on a buffing wheel. i don't work in a plastic shop, but i took a couple of years of mixed media sculpture in school, and i use acryllic and epoxy resin in the furniture and stuff that i make for a living. plastic guys are usually pretty tight lipped about their techniques. keep digging. Dime Dave
Look up key incerts. Mc Master Carr. A little better for what your doing. Sometimes called "keensert". Screw the insert into a tapped hole. Once in place, drive the "keys" in and the insert is locked into place and it won't back out. Much better tha helicoils. Quote Link to comment
KhausticMess
Thanks dave I kinda like that one. I took a little time to look some stuff up but a lot of it wasn't really what I was interested in using. Yeah nice machine is pretty much right and I agree on flame polish, hopefully you got my pm Hardwyre. Quote Link to comment
