68Datsun510
Hey folks, just looking for opinions of normal vs needs bearings. While I have it out, ya know? What do you think? No unusual noises. http://youtu.be/7zbpdAAbmHI Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
Definitely use the stock bearing type. It will last 150,000 miles. Quote Link to comment
Master-O-Turbonics
Its hard to tell because there is always some play since it is only really supported by one bearing. Pilot bushing supports the front end.... That bearing is pretty cheap... You just have to remove the gearset from the bellhousing, then pull off the counter gear and the input shaft comes off so you can press the new bearing on. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
As stated they all have some play when out but the front you are moving won't, when installed because the pilot bushing supports it. I would be concerned if it moved in and out. Hard to tell if this was the case with yours or not. I just checked a couple of mine and there is no movement forward or back. If it's been apart before perhaps a shim is missing behind the Circ clip. Quote Link to comment
