bagged320
How do I take my steering column off my 320 and can it be lowered, im planning on body dropping my truck, maybe, and just wondering if there was another way to go with steering columns or before I start tearing into the column if there is a easy way to get it off, i need to take the body off to clean and paint the frame, I just remember taking the one off on my 521 a few years back was a pain Quote Link to comment

]2eDeYe
Remove the steering wheel and the blinker switch cover and assembly. Disconnect the drag link. Unbolt it from the frame, the firewall and the dash. Then you have to finaggle (technical term) it out from the engine bay. Quote Link to comment
datsunaholic
"Unbolt the drag link". Redeye, you've been working on your jeep too much. Well, on a 320 that's be "unbolt the pitman arm" since it attaches directly to the tie rod. If you're going to take the cab off, you can just unbolt the pitman and the steering box from the frame, wire it to the cab and lift it off when removing the cab. I'm not sure you can remove it from a 320 with the engine in place, at least not intact. But in reality if you are body dropping you'll have to replace the steering anyway since the column is solid and would end up going through the speedometer. Best bet is to get a 720 steering setup since it has "tilt" and the ability to change the angle. Fabrication will be reqired no matter what you do. Quote Link to comment
