Datsun 520 and 410 transmission case boots

 

Looking for a suitable substitution for the

Transmission Boot - Rubber – vented (30543-01301) – Item 22 in Illustration below

These are specific for the F4W63A transmission found on the J13 engine vehicles. (The holes in the transmission case are oval, rather than rectangular found on the L series transmission.)

They are $5 and $7 from Nissan. But they will have to order them and so might take three weeks to get them.

I attempted to order from Courtesy Nissan, but was told they are NLA. (They checked the national dealer database and no dealer has them available.)

Yes, they have to order them. Takes three weeks to get here from Japan.

 

There are a couple of dealers here in Seattle that will do it, and it saves on shipping to (pay a bit more for the part, but don't have to pay Courtesey's per-part shipping feeds).

If it's an oval boot, then it's not the F4W63 but something earlier and I don't know what it was called. I believe it's a hold over from the 320 trucks and will look like this with oval shift arm boot...?

 

 

 

The F4W63 was used on the 520 / J13 starting in '66

 

This is a '66-'69 F4W63 for a J13 engine and has a removable oil pan on the bottom, rectangular shift arm boot....

 

The part number for the oval boot is #30542-30000 superseded to #30542-08700 about $7 or so. .
