craZee
Looking for an R-180 with 3:90 gears. Will consider open, LSD or perhaps just good 3:90 R/P gear set. Please send any options to stevepharr at cox.net Thanks Steve San Diego Link to comment
datzenmike
I don't think there were any R-180 with 3.90 ratio. All 3.90s were R-200 for the Z car. The early 810 sedans had an R-180 with a 3.70 ratio. The '83.5-'86.5 720 4x4 had an R-180 diff with 4.11 ratio. The S12 had R-200 with 3.90 and 4.11 and also R-180s with 4.11 ratio The 300zx did have some R-200s with 3.70 ratios. Link to comment
craZee
Maybe the fact that they "never made them" explains why they are hard to find LOL. There is a Subie one on CL with no stub axles. Do the subbies use the spring keeper and the Nissan's the bolt in the center? I ran into this nightmare before. Thanks for the education on this. I have a 4:11 and 4:35 180's but a 3:90 would be better for one track I run. I hate to add the extra weight of the R-200. Steve Link to comment

Well didn't mean to imply they never made them. I don't know of any/don't think there are any. The R-200s are very bulletproof and yes they are heavy but 20 pounds more than an R-180? Would seem more if swapping from an R-150 in a 510. Good for traction. Link to comment
Ratty260z
They made the 3.90 r-180 open diff just not in the US. 240z's in other countries had 5 speed tranny's and the 3.90 r-180 stock. A R-160 LSD could be an option. Link to comment
datzenmike
That would be the old Roadster 5 speed with a L series bell??? Link to comment
banzai510(hainz)
Me and Jeff did a R180 C clip to 510 half shaft conversion swapping spider gear threaded sideplate I think it was from a S12 automatic it was either a 390 or 3.70 Link to comment

zerow
There are R-160s (3.70s and 3.90s) all over the place in Subarus...mostly open, but you never know - an LSD does show up every now and again... 73 610s with automatic also had R-160 and 3.90, but that is a long shot. Your best bet is like what was stated above - R-200 and 3.90s. Thats damn near bulletproof. Link to comment
craZee
I have decided to go with taller tires to get close to the same ratio that the diff swap would have given me. Anybody have any cheap 16 x 7 0 offset 4 x 114.3 rims for sale? Style not important. Steve Link to comment
