HRH
Does anyone have pictures of a RWD A series transmission bellhousing, looking in at it with the clutch fork attached to the throwout bearing pedestal? The problem I'm having is we're putting the transmission back in my bodyman's '71 1200, and we can't figure out how the clutch fork spring goes on. It's different than the L series transmissions. Has a couple wound coils on either end, but putting it the way it should be, it spaces the throwout bearing collar too far off the shaft. Any ideas there? Need to get this in before we can go down to Regy's farm and get the quarter for my 510. Quote Link to comment

LenRobertson
Matt - I heard the quarter panel was under armed guard till you and Reg got the tranny back in the 1200. LOL! I found this with a pic that may help: http://datsun1200.com/modules/mediawiki/index.php?title=Release_Lever The pics enlarge when you click on them. Len Quote Link to comment
HRH
Hey Len, I found that pic too! We eventually went down and got the quarter panel and looked at the extra 1200 transmission at the farm. Tranny is back in now, just left Regy as I have to go to Coeur d'Alene for dinner with the parents. The picture you found is the old style. The one Datzenmike posted shows the same spring, it fits around the groove on the input shaft cover, with the spring ends facing AWAY from the clutch fork. We kept trying to install it as part of the clutch fork. Fits in nicely, almost works, just not the right angle. Anyway, we got it, yay! And I have a new quarter, even better! Plus we grabbed Regy's 2.0 liter that I'll rebuild for his yellow 510. Quote Link to comment
LenRobertson
I thought the TO was still assembled on the 1200 tranny at the farm, but didn't know if Reg's dad was there to look at it. The spring position might be a hard thing to describe over the phone. Anyway, sounds like you got it figured out. Hope the pilot bushing or whatever is quieter now. Is that the first time you've been to the farm? There are a few cars and old trucks to see. I sometimes forget all that is scattered around there. Len Quote Link to comment
