Going To Replace My Clutch Next Weekend So I Have A Few Questions

I Have Already Purchased Clutch, Cover, Alignment Tool, Release Bearing, Pilot Bearing, Slave Cyl, Master Cyl

I Just Replaced The Tranny Fluid About 500 Miles Ago

Will I Need To Drain Tranny For Removal?

Is There Anything I Can Replace While The Tranny Is Out?

I Have Been Told That You MUST Resurface/Balance Flywheel... True?

How Much Torque For Flywheel, Clutch Cover, Tranny/Motor Bolts, And X-Member?

:D

You should drain tranny ,,, but you can plug it with old cut off driveshaft end :) ,,, just drain it and be done with it ! fill with GL-4 yellow metal safe gear oil compatbile fluids ,,,, napa house brand , redline , royal purple ,,, etc ,,, to refill do what datzenmike suggests ,,, long garden hose/heater hose from the top ,, run into fill plug ,,, use funnel in engine compartment to fill tranny

Check REAR MAIN SEAL !!! if leaking at all ,,, Replace !!! check Front and Rear Trans Seals ,,, if leak at all ,,, replace :)

Check condition of u-joints while you have it out !

You should check and have flywheel re-surfaced ,,, but ,,, if need be ,,, if any variations , heat spots ,,, it needs to be turned

Check condition of throwout bearing ,,, pack it with grease as datzenmike suggests if being replaced ,,,

I couldn't tell you the torque , sorry , I own Zcars :)

Good Luck !

Draining is less messy and lighter. It will leak out the back when removing unless plugged. If the oil is that new just put it back in again.

If the rear seal was not replaced before I would replace it now. Only $5 so why not.

You do not have to resurface it if smooth and without scoring or grooves. Get a small block of wood and some 220 sand paper and sand in a circular motion to remove the shine and you are good to go.

Flywheel mounting bolts........................................... 100-116 ft lbs.

Clutch cover bolts....................................................... 11-16 ft lbs.

Trans/motor bolts........................................................ 32-43 ft.lbs.

X member to frame......................................................20-27 ft. lbs.

X member to trans mount insulator .............................. 20-27 ft. lbs.

Trans mount insulator to transmission ......................... 23-31 ft. lbs.
