L20B to stock 521 4spd

All L trans. will bolt to all L motors. Mike..save up & get a 5 speed, IMO you wont be dissapointed.

save the engine mounts from your l16. First l20 I got was out a 78 510 used the mounts that were on the motor and couldn't close the hood(looked cool without the hood thou)any way the clutch and pressure plate line up just fine and being you are not changing the length of the tranny no drive line work is needed. But it will still rev to about 4200 on the freeway at 65 mph:mad:

Mike i work 3pm to 11 pm on sat. so ill be free in the AM. BTW the hole doesnt need to be made that big & if you reinstall the shift boot youll never know. i LOVE the 5 speed in my 521,total night & day difference!!

use a l16 oil pan on the l20b. your steering will rub on the l20b pan if you dont.

The L20b has a 6 bolt flywheel and the 1600 has a five bolt. To put a 5spd to a L16 what needs to be done?

You need the correct clutch and throw out bearing collar for a l20b or l16.In a 521 you have to have the 521 specific oil pan.Have to pound it out a bit for the front crank journal on a l20b.Try to find a dogleg for easy 5 speed install.I have never had an issue with the one in my 620 and that is my worker.

What models did the dogleg come in?

The presssure plate and throw out bearing collar are a matched set so keep together when you put the 5 spd in.

'77 -'79 200SX, if memory serves me correctly. Just not the '80 and later.
