7-TWO-510 Posted September 1, 2011 Report Share Posted September 1, 2011 Idropped an l18 in my 72 510 and the headers that r on the motor r up against the steering (arm?) or (link) restricting the steering from turning right. if i bought headers for a l16, wuld i have the same problem? if any1 has ever ran into this problem? any feedback wuld b great thanks. datzenmike Posted September 1, 2011 Report Share Posted September 1, 2011 I don't think they came with L18s in N Am. What was the L18 out of? If from a truck the header would be made to clear the torsion bars and the steering box is in the front and not an issue. Quote Link to comment

[Were 510s ever avaible with an L18 or just strictly an L16?] All were L16. L16 and L18 are the same physical dimensions. If the exhaust worked on the L16 it should work on the L18. I denticle the same on the outside L20 are 3/4 higher , most times if a Longtube header from a L16/18 isinstalled on a L20itwill hit the 510 floor. Top End performance has a short tube header thats covers all square port L motors. Quote Link to comment
