72 240 Z

I have a question about 72 240Z's, did they all come with a rear defroster in the hatch or was that an option?

I have a reference showing the Canadian glass different than the US model. It's also marked optional US so my bet is that it's the rear defrost type.

most of them Iv seen in the US have them.

 

the only difference Iv seen is the series one have vertical defroster lines and later ones have horizontal defroster lines.

Yep like skib said '69-12/70 had verticle defrosters with the vents on the hatch, later had horizontal defrosters. Not sure if it was an option, but maybe the ones youve seen have just been replacement glass?

The only one's with no defroster were the first 800 or so, my #400 10/69 Z had no defroster, just clear glass.

forgot about that. HLS30-00013 was in Nissan Sport and doesnt have them

I may be wrong but none of the 432 Z's had defroster. The hakosuka GTR didn't either. That is actually one of the ways you can tell a Real Hakosuka GTR vs one that has been re-badged... then again if they went as far as re-badging a skyline as a GTR they probably changed the rear glass also. Oh and the real GTR glass is worth its weight in gold. So I'm guessing that may be the same thing with non defroster Z hatch glass???

Im wouldnt be surprised if most if not all didnt have them.

 

but just about anything off a 432 or 432R is worth its weight in gold.

 

there where only 420 made. all but 23 of them between 1969/70 and 1971.
