roadwarrior
so I got my J13 dropped into the engine bay and realized that I had this plate left over that goes somewhere between the engine and transmission. It's some kind of dust cover I believe. Can anyone tell me the easiest way to get this plate back on. thanks Quote Link to comment
NOTES...
Does the block have dowel pins to mate it to the tranny? if so then u have to take it out... but if not then loosen the bolts and slide it in between.. Take oics of the plate... Quote Link to comment
banzai510(hainz)
the 510s and 521 L16 have the 3/4 plate and you can squeeze them in there and over the dowel. The lower part of trans completes it. its a small plate with like 3 or 4 10mm head size hex bolts Quote Link to comment

datzenmike
Standards tend to be a single cover over the entire front of the bellhousing with only a hole for the crank to pass through. It fits between the flywheel and the block and if missing, the starter, which is bolted to the tranny, will be that much further to the front of the vehicle and away from the starter ring teeth. Automatics have the bottom 1/3, about even with the pan gasket, removable so you can get at the torque converter bolts. L series and Z series engine plates for standards. Can you see the difference? The hole for the starter is much closer to the block on the L series. Quote Link to comment
roadwarrior
here is the plate. I guess I have to take the flywheel off again. Hence the damit plate right. Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
Naw, that bolts on after the flywheel and transmission are bolted on. Quote Link to comment
