Madmax
i have the original dash and didnt want to cut the holes out for a radio so i made my own radio delete plate... i made them both out of stainles steel, polished the backing plate and just painted the front plate... it looks great and hopefully keeps its shine for a while, i used emblem adhesive to hold the two together, we will c how it does??? Madmax
Had some stuff laying around so decided to make backing up a little easier!!! DID THE LAYOUT OF WHAT I THOUGHT NEEDED CUT, ACTUALLY ENDED UP CUTTING MORE THAN U SEE HERE THE OUTER BRACKET IS 90DEGREE STAINLESS...THE OTHER IS MAGICAL 35DEGREES!!! CLEAR rtv TO KEEP MOTHER NATURE OUT... FITS PERFECTLY WHERE FACTORY HOOKS USED TO BE!!! POLISHED THE BRACKET SO IT STANDS OUT A LITTLE BIT.. IT SHOWS TOP OF BALL PERFECTLY AND OUT BEHIND TRUCK AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE...I LOVE IT!!! Quote Link to comment
Madmax
added some dense foam to stop the aluminum from sagging when i put heavy loads on it!!! Powdercoated it OEM wheel silver from Eastwood, very metallic!! used end links from Mcmaster Carr because hooks were to thick, and had machinest make me some cup holders from aluminum, used regular hose clamps to keep them in place on the underside... flatcat19
That tailgate mod is awesome. Maybe some more details/steps. I hate having that space open on my truck. Quote Link to comment

Madmax
Some one posted to use McMaster Carr Weatherstripping on datsun 521 so i decided to give it a try. i used the recomended part# 1120A842 and 25' and 1/16" edge with 3/4Bulb width and it costs $46.00. Here is my adventure with it.... Dont mind the mess, but wanted a pic of starting this thing. started at the front bottom with single layer metal, measuring about 1/16. Quickly realized a rubber mallet is the best tool!!! Really struggled when metal got 3 and 4 layers thick!!! Maybe should have ordered thicker Edging??? Next time measure first, order second... Finished finally, more work than i had planned. looks pretty good, doors tight to close almost to point of slamming door. hopefully it will loosen up over time or i will order smaller Bulb width than the 3/4 i used??? Close up, looks good. saving other side for tomorrow, not too expensive, time will tell and maybe reorder with different measurements??? Quote Link to comment
