Why is everybody posting stuff in the wrong sections lately!?

Put this under "For Sale" and you'll probably get more luck...

unfortunally I try posting my stuff on the for sale section and didn't help at all, no much people that have 620 go to that discussion, so i'm posting it here since is all about 620 I have more chance to get better respond

Well 620's aren't the only datsun to ever use this set up dude. Did you post it in all the other sections too? Because most (if not all) of the cars datsun made used the Hitachi.

L18.... from Aug '73 up to Sept '74 ....at least on the trucks. I expect the increasing smog and emission rules of the early/mid 70s and added equipment, ( air pumps, EGR, spark delay, dual points etc) would have rendered the L16 almost useless for pulling a larger long wheelbase truck. Seems odd to run an L18 for only one year but either it wasn't up to it or the L20B wasn't ready yet. (or both)

And yes, if it's for sale it goes in the Datsun Parts For Sale section, what else? I closed the second post.

Mike, '74 was an odd year for all Datsuns.

Z-car: L24 (1970-73), L26 (1974 only) L28E (75-78)

1200/B210: A12 (through 73), A13 (1974) A14 (75-78)

Truck: L16 (1970-73) L18 (1974) L20B (75-80)

The 610 was the oddball. The 510 had the L16 through '73, but the 610 came out in '73 with an L18, then switched to the L20B in '74.

it had everything to do with emissions. Nissan was trying to keep the Wheel HP about the same for each year, and increasing emissions requirements (particularly the EGR) were robbing power. The EGR itself didn't change the HP much, but the carb changes needed to solve the higher CO2/Hydrocarbon emissions caused by the EGR (which is used to reduce NOx emissions) did. With the Z-car, they went completely the other way by introducing EFI.
