datsunaholic
People got to the for sale section all the time. I'll let you figure out why no one responds. The initials "WU" and "MO" has something to do with it. Link to comment

flatcat19
FYI 73-74 PL620 have L18 Copied from olddatsuns.com: In 1974 the L16 was replaced with the L18 and was only to be replaced again in 1975 by the L20b. Link to comment

Did you post it in all the other sections too? Because most (if not all) of the cars datsun made used the Hitachi. Link to comment

greaser
The id tag on the driver side inner fender well of my 74 620 says PL 620 and the engine capacity is 1770 cc. So would that be conidered a L18? Thats would be my guess. Link to comment
datzenmike
L18.... from Aug '73 up to Sept '74 ....at least on the trucks. I expect the increasing smog and emission rules of the early/mid 70s and added equipment, ( air pumps, EGR, spark delay, dual points etc) would have rendered the L16 almost useless for pulling a larger long wheelbase truck. Seems odd to run an L18 for only one year but either it wasn't up to it or the L20B wasn't ready yet. (or both) And yes, if it's for sale it goes in the Datsun Parts For Sale section, what else? I closed the second post. Link to comment
datsunaholic
Mike, '74 was an odd year for all Datsuns. Z-car: L24 (1970-73), L26 (1974 only) L28E (75-78) 1200/B210: A12 (through 73), A13 (1974) A14 (75-78) Truck: L16 (1970-73) L18 (1974) L20B (75-80) The 610 was the oddball. The 510 had the L16 through '73, but the 610 came out in '73 with an L18, then switched to the L20B in '74. it had everything to do with emissions. Nissan was trying to keep the Wheel HP about the same for each year, and increasing emissions requirements (particularly the EGR) were robbing power. The EGR itself didn't change the HP much, but the carb changes needed to solve the higher CO2/Hydrocarbon emissions caused by the EGR (which is used to reduce NOx emissions) did. With the Z-car, they went completely the other way by introducing EFI. Link to comment
