Ofeargall
Does anyone have some photos of an elegant mod to the engine bay battery holder for the 520/521? No surprise that mine is rusted out, mostly, and I need to secure this dan battery. I have a stick welder and a 110V wire-feed. If anyone has some good looking/functional yet easy to build solutions, I'd be much obliged. No comments on the sweet hood-rest... Quote Link to comment
Hardwyre
Here's a neat box. About $30 after shipping. Fits a 10 3/4" x 7" battery. Weld in. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/New-Speedway-Lightweight-Steel-Weld-In-Battery-Box-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQitemZ120745723576#ht_1701wt_895 About $50 shipped for a bolt in. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/New-Speedway-Bolt-In-Steel-Battery-Box-10-3-4-x-7-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem2eb6182236QQitemZ200623530550QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories The other idea would be to look at the design and just make your own because I think our batteries are larger than this box. But It shouldn't be too hard to replicate with your wire feed. Quote Link to comment
DanielC
I bet nobody ignores the hood rest. and just forces the hood closed, bending the brace, and the hood. I have an inner fender panel that I am pretty sure is for a 520. Outside of panel. Inside of panel. Part number close up. Quote Link to comment

Ofeargall
Ya, that weld-in looks pretty cool. I suspect creating something like that wouldn't be too traumatic. IF I completely botch the job I might take you up on those inner panels though, DanielC. I'll shoot a PM if I decide to go that way. Thanks all! Oh, and yes, there's no ignoring the Louisville Slugger hood-rest. My sons, who've grown up in the age of aluminum bats said, "Is that a 'real' wooden bat?". I felt instantly old but incredibly cool at the same time for having such a piece of nostalgia just hanging around. 1 Quote Link to comment
Hardwyre
Meh, aluminum "safety" bats. They'll never experience the incredible feeling of watching a wood bat explode just prior to the ball becoming a home run grand slam. Though, wood or metal, bats make great "Thief Be Good" sticks. FoxyRoadster
There be talk of banning metal bats in little leagues Quote Link to comment
Ofeargall
The hood-rest does indeed double as my wife's 'security system'. Quote Link to comment
