FoxyRoadster
I'm thinking the Z I get I'm just gonna gut the interior minus seats and drive the thing as it is. Tiny images are tiny: I'm not normally one to leave a car rusty, but since I'm trading my baja bug for it straight across I wont have much into the car overall. Quote Link to comment

datsunaholic
You kinda should fix the rust. Unlike old American rat rods, there's not much metal, and once they get those circular spots the metal goes through quick, and it spreads like wildfire. Especially since the new holes let water pool inside the bodywork. You could always just put POR-15 or Eastwood on the spots and leave 'em be after that. Put a UV-protective topcoat (clear dullcoat?) on top of it. Quote Link to comment

My roadster makes me aware of how thin the metal is, I've yet to gauge how bad the car is and surface rust was gonna get clear coated but anything thats a hole will get patched. Quote Link to comment
Spades
Gut and clean the inside out, get it mechanically reliable, sand off the rust and throw primer at it one spot at a time. That's what I did...the car is finally almost ready for paint and installing the interior, but it took a long time to get there, and I am glad I didn't leave the crappy interior in it or let the few pieces of exposed steel rust up. Hardwyre
Even if you're going to rat it, treat the rust. Quote Link to comment
Javin
Even if you're going to rat it, treat the rust. Rust color primer! Like Ed's truck. Gives it character without destroying the patina. Quote Link to comment
FoxyRoadster
If I sand the car any, I will do a full paint job. I'm kinda partial to Nissan's Midnight purple Quote Link to comment
