ggzilla
The A-series uses many L-series parts like the rod bolts and the valve stem seals. Yes. Now you know why the A-series is so bulletproof. You can use: * O-ring type (not recommended) * Lip-seal type * Umbrella type The lip-seal type is different for A-series and L-series. This is the type that fits over the valve guide. It is the "normal" type for L20B, is the same as Chevy 4, Isuzu, KA, VG and L-series. I personally like the Umbrella type, famous on the ford engines. 1 Quote Link to comment
john510
The "How to hot rod and race your Datsun" book says to use A series seals in your L motor if you have a high lift cam. They should work. 1 Quote Link to comment

THANK YOU ... so if i have o ring type they wont work good? How do I tell what type I have? I have a series valve stem seals. wanting to install em on a l20b im freshening up... Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
To tell what type they are, remove them from the box. An o-ring looks like a little circular piece of rubber. That provides very minimal sealing and only works OK if the valve guides are brand new. Quote Link to comment
