5t341tH
Thanks to everyone for answering my questions and those that posted previously. Got my car running with the new 5 speed! Now I just need to find where I put the cover plate to cover the transmission tunnel. question: is this enough travel for the pin on the slave cylinder? 4 Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
It normally moves 1.18" if your clutch is not engaging or the opposite ,you may have the wrong release bearing collar matched to your clutch. What is the transmission out of? and the clutch??? 1 Quote Link to comment
5t341tH
Thanks Mike. Transmission is from 280zx and I used a 620 clutch kit. Used 620 throw out bearing/collar kit. And 280zx flywheel. Everything seems to be working. Was driving it around yesterday 1 Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Just wondering why you were asking about the slave push rod stroke. As long as everything is working, call it good. 1 Quote Link to comment
5t341tH
You are right Mike. I was just being curious. It drives fine and all. Now I have questions for the reverse. It should be the grn/blk wires for the reverse right? My reverse switch might be bad on the tranny. Also is there a way to fix the slop on shifter? From neutral to left has so much play. Neutral to right is much tighter. And I am not talking about the shifter bushing mod either 1 Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Reverse lights are Red/Black stripe. The reverse lamp switch is directly to the rear of the clutch arm and boot on the transmission. Nope. The shifter bushing are about all you can do to shorten up the neutral gate. 1 Quote Link to comment
Mr Freez
Yes I have a 5 speed from a 240z in my 73 620 but I had to shim the trans cross member down about an inch aprox. For good measure I replaced the u joints an drive shaft bushing an an new trans oil. Had my 20 b , with a Weber care newer distributor ! Love it scratches 3rd no sweat. Good luck an have fun , it's what it's all about, Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Yes, that would be the old Roadster Fairlady box with a special L series bolt on bell to allow it to fit the L series engines. Quote Link to comment
