racerx
Just installed a new fuel pump but did not install the spacer. Is this necessary? Quote Link to comment
datsunaholic
Yes. Without it you'll bend or break off the fuel pump arm and tear up the eccentric cam. Quote Link to comment

ninjabortion
shit, anyone have a pic of one installed looking correct? i've got a mech one coming to replace the ghetto rigged electric one the dude had in there, would like to make sure it goes in right... Quote Link to comment
racerx
the mech. one is very easy to install. Just line up the holes. One gasket between the engine, thick plastic gasket in between and paper gasket between the pump and the thick plastic gasket. Just place some rags around area where gas will leak or a small container. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
I had one (gasket) made from a cerial box. The space is phenolic, a form of plastic, and will snap if over tightened. Quote Link to comment
datsunaholic
Some are phenolic, and some are bakelite. Bakelite is REALLY old-school... Like, World War age plastics. And hence REALLY brittle. Aftermarket ones I've seen are straight plastic (usually white or black) and too thin for a stock pump. Quote Link to comment
