the mech. one is very easy to install. Just line up the holes. One gasket between the engine, thick plastic gasket in between and paper gasket between the pump and the thick plastic gasket. Just place some rags around area where gas will leak or a small container.

Some are phenolic, and some are bakelite. Bakelite is REALLY old-school... Like, World War age plastics. And hence REALLY brittle. Aftermarket ones I've seen are straight plastic (usually white or black) and too thin for a stock pump.

ha i learned all about bakelite on antique roadshow. i just got my box o parts from rock auto yesterday so i'll be tossing a bunch on, maybe even get around to starting a build thread to toss all these dumb pics i've been taking in...
