a.d._510_n_ok
I left my key switch on a few day ago and totally killed an old cheap battery. Now I have light switch + key switch issues. when i turn the key off my voltage gauge drops to zero and no lights including the dome light will come on until the car has been started. when the headlights are turned on they hesitate a few seconds before they light up. I have changed out the alternator and battery (both brand new) to fix the problem but with no luck. The light switch is less than six months old and the ignition switch is about four years old. help....? Quote Link to comment
datsunaholic
Could be one of the 3 fusible links, things act funny when they corrode (vs blowing). Quote Link to comment

a.d._510_n_ok
well, it turned out to be a tiny wire running off the positive battery cable into the harness. 31 years of corrosion had eaten through it at just about the same time the battery died. pure-dee kwinky dink.
