My question is what exactly is an A87 head. I mean what car did it come off of or manufacturer do they come from are they in various sizes just basic information i need to know about them please? Most, probably all N Am L18s and early L20B had them but with open combustion chambers. I have one on my 710 L18 and I doubt it's closed.It has large intake valves and is similar to the U-67 head. datzenmike Posted March 24, 2011 Report Share Posted March 24, 2011 :) It happens. The closed chamber is somewhat rare but not overly. The ones we see were likely bolted to import motors from Japan. Back in the '80s when many L18 were needing a good rebuild, it was cheaper to buy and install a low mileage import motor. The Japs kept all the good stuff for themselves like closed chamber heads and dual SU's on the L18s. Quote Link to comment
