When you do 1 of the front 4 it will probably make the other 3 loose. So make sure to keep going around the bolts. Quote Link to comment

dirtydiesel Posted April 8, 2011 Report Share Posted April 8, 2011 10-12 ft pounds. on valve cover gaskets. unless they are the the cool reusable rubber with a steel wire core. then you can use about 15 ft pounds. useing a short handled 1/4 inch rachet usually works. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike Posted April 8, 2011 Report Share Posted April 8, 2011 I don't think 10-12 or 15 ft lbs is right for the valve cover. Should be 0.7- 2.2 ft. lbs. 8-10 will likely pull the threads right out of the head. Barely wrist tight. As the gasket compresses over time, just snug them down with it. Quote Link to comment
